Dispatch is happy to announce the 2023 Q3 release of Sentinel. This version includes two new capabilities we are excited to share with you: single sign-on and runtime schedule visualization.
Sentinel by Dispatch Integration
Your Workday integrations could be failing without you knowing about it, causing issues that can impact your business. Sentinel is an integration monitoring system that continuously monitors your Workday integrations and sends you real-time alerts when problems occur. Learn more about Sentinel on our product page.
Single Sign On
Dispatch is working hard to ensure your data is secure in our application environment. Sentinel only collects integration metadata to detect integration activity, so no underlying data is ever accessed or stored. To further improve the security stance of Sentinel, we can now integrate directly with your organization’s authentication provider. Enabling SSO ensures Sentinel meets your corporate security standards, and further enhances user experience by having a familiar way to sign-on.
In addition, if your organization doesn’t want to use SSO, our new authentication platform now enforces MFA tokens for two-factor authentication protection. This added layer of authentication will ensure that only verified and valid users can access your organization’s data.
If you are an existing Sentinel user, your current authentication method will continue to be supported through a three month transition period.
What To Do Next If You’re New To Sentinel
Enhanced Authentication can be accessed directly from the home login screen. After entering your email address, you will be redirected to your organization’s single sign-on provider or prompted for a password and then an MFA code.
What To Do Next if You’re an Existing Sentinel User
Existing users can continue using the legacy username/password box until your Administrator configures Sentinel with your organization’s preferred SSO method.
If you’re the Sentinel Administrator at your organization, Dispatch will contact you to help you select your organization’s authentication mechanism and start the transition to SSO or enhanced username/password authentication.
Runtime Schedule Visualization
It can be tough to effectively schedule your integrations to prevent overlapping runs, which can impact system performance. Choosing when to run your Workday integrations often means guesswork, and if you end up stacking too many integrations to run at the same time, system performance can degrade, or you can get other unanticipated negative effects, including unexpected terminations.
With the latest release, we are sharing a new dashboard called the Runtime Schedule:
The Runtime Schedule dashboard allows Workday professionals to visualize when integrations are running throughout the day and their duration. This view will help you quickly identify overlapping or conflicting schedules. It also can illustrate when regularly scheduled integrations are running or running long.
The graph at the top allows you to click and drag an area of interest to zoom in, or you can use the time picker at the top to find an interesting period to review.
Finally, the Minimum Runtime dropdown at the top left will filter out very short-running integrations as they typically don’t impact system performance. This filter is helpful if your organization has a lot of integrations running, to prevent the visualization from getting too cluttered.
This view can be very helpful to manage your overall integration schedule, and ensure your most critical integrations, such as payroll, can be scheduled with priority.
Dispatch hopes that these two new features will continue to grow the usefulness of the Sentinel product. As always, your feedback is important to us as we look to make your Workday experience stress-free.
